CCSU 57: Gorillas to Bwindi and Rwanda safari (8 Days/7 nights)
8 DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KAMPALA.
Pick up by a company representative and then be transfer to Kampala for a city tour depending on time of arrival or transfer to the hotel for refreshment. Dinner and overnight at Lake view Guest House if budget.DAY 2: KAMPALA - TO SSESE ISLANDS (FRIDAY)
Pick you up your accommodation in Kampala then transfer to Entebbe for the Ferry crossing at around 1:00pm to the Island. Arrive later in the early evening in time for dinner and overnight at Mirembe Guest House.DAY 3: SSESE ISLANDS
After Break fast, have a morning-guided nature-walk; expect to see a lot of vegetation, monkeys, Beautiful singing birds, many water birds and the ladybird! Return for lunch and in the afternoon visit the Old palm tree farm, the Bat cave, and many old monuments. Return at the island for spot fishing, sunbathing and swimming, or canoeing later Dinner and overnight at the Mirembe Guest House.DAY 4: SSESE ISLANDS – KAMPALA
Early Breakfast, then head for the morning Ferry to cross and head back to Kampala with lunch enroute arriving late in the evening for dinner and overnight at Lake View Guest House.DAY 5: KAMPALA – BWINDI
After an early morning breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Park with lunch at Mbarara then proceed to Bwindi through the rolling hills known as the “Little Switzerland” of Kabale. Then check in for Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Heritage Guest House if budget
DAY 6: BWINDI - GORILLA TREKKING
After early breakfast, with your packed lunch go for a briefing at 08:00 hours before beginning the trek. Gorilla tracking is unpredictable, so it is difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike. It may take 2-8 hours, and you should be prepared to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas.
For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants. Later return for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Heritage Guest House if budgetDAY 7: BWINDI/ KISORO– KIGALI
Early morning breakfast and then transfer back to Rwanda arriving at the border for clearance where you may be required to pay $ 60 dollars and on reentry back to Uganda $ 30 dollars. Transfer to Kigali Town for dinner and overnight at Alpha Palace Hotel if budget
DAY 8: KIGALI –GENOCIDE MEMORIALS
Breakfast and then visit the Genocide Memorial grounds. After lunch you can visit the craft centers or Museum, depending on time of flight, they can be transfer to the airport on this day for a flight back home.
